Children's Toys Wholesale Center In Jakarta Part 1 (Asemka Market)

In Jakarta, there are 3 locations of the whole toy commercial centers.

One of the three locations is:

Asemka market.

This biggest toy wholesaler center in Jakarta is located under the flybridge, in Jembatan Lima area, Tambora, West Jakarta.

This market if from the city station the distance is around 500 meters.

For you (foreign and domestic tourists) who have never been there, the easiest way to find an Asemka location is to ask to be escorted by Bajaj (An Indian-made transportation device). Usually, around the outer circumference of the city station, there many Bajaj. The fare is cheap if I ride a Bajaj from the station, is only Rp. 15,000 (about 1 US dollar).

This children's toys wholesale center (as far as I know for seven years trading children's toys) has several blocks/ locations.

For example the Asemka building. 

This is one of the locations in the morning market that made the whole area identical as name 'Asemka' until now. Because this building is the most popular there when its heyday used to be. So that makes this building a 'trademark' for the market area that morning until now.

Asemka Building.

In the past (in the 90s to 2000s) the Asemka building was the center of cosmetics, watches, belts, wallets, glasses, hats, and various fashion equipment for young people to adults. Now, this Asemka building is change function sell different kinds of accessories such as bracelets, necklaces, rings, hair clips, and others. I noticed, currently are more shops selling accessories than selling cosmetics.

Cosmetic traders slowly but surely have been 'extinct' one by one.

One of the causes of the percentage of cosmetics traders today is much lower because of the increasingly hard requirements mandatory Indonesian National Standards (SNI) so that a lot of raids were carried out on illegal/unauthorized cosmetic traders.

Therefore, I will provide information about some of the cheapest toy wholesale stores in the Asemka area. Includes:

#1. Hans toys wholesale store.

This Hans toys store is located right at the entrance of the city station. Its position is right next to the firecrackers store. Exactly on; Petongkangan street morning market.

Hans's wholesale store mostly sells large-size toys with a 'middle class' price range. It means that this Hans store sells toys that are good enough, so the price of the product is high enough. So the products from this Hans store are more suitable for sale at retail stores located in the upper-middle-class community.

Hans claims that it sells toy products such as:

- Accu-powered toy car (that as often be leased out in the mall).
- Remote control car.
- Tamiya
- Electric scooters.
- Hot Wheels toys.
- Etc.

#2. Gaby's Toys and 'Lucky Toys' wholesale store.

These two stores are owned by one owner.

Previously, there was only one toy wholesale store, namely 'Gaby toys' shop. Later the store grew rapidly, so the owner could open a new toy wholesale branch. (Note: that's why the new store named 'Lucky Toys')

The old shop (Gaby's) is now more specialized for selling toys a trend or seasonal. For instance during the Slim toys season, then at the 'Lucky Toys' store, it is full of Slim toys. This wholesale store sells all kinds of remote control toys (RC).

Example:

- RC helicopter.
- RC speed boat (powered by special batteries)
- RC toys fueled with methanol.
- RC Drone (camera)
- Accu-powered toy cars (can be climbed by children).
- And others.

The 'Channel Hobby' store location is directly opposite the Asemka building. But because the area of the shop is somewhat hidden among other grocery stores, so for people who have never shopped there, it is usually rather difficult to find the store.

#4. Bhineka Doll Shop.

This shop sells various stuffed toys. From small size dolls (which are usually for key chains) to adult-sized jumbo puppets. ☺
